I've been building my gaming PC for at least 2 years now and I have to say there's nothing to play that's good. I keep buying games from Steam and I find myself not playing them at all. All because I want to find SOMETHING that gives me joy and entertains me. Yeah you have those repeat games (roguelite), but they get old. Then everything is just a clone of everything else. It's roguelite or survival or crafting or farming (not literal farming). Like, where's all the creativity that we got back in the day? I'm going back and playing old games that I haven't played and I'm having a wonderful time. Just finished Portal 1 and 2. Right now I'm starting Half Life. Speaking of Half Life, I really get irked when games, like you mentioned, are not optimized properly. Why does Half Life Alyx run so smooth and yet I have trouble with some other game that is less demanding in VR? I'm here thinking it's my gear but in reality its how the games are made. Just reminded me when I started learning coding and how they would teach you the "costly" way and then teach you the less expensive way that would make your program run better and use less computer power. Instead of using all these resources to do X you can achieve X by using less resources thus making your program (or in this case your game) run better and faster! Is this happening because there's a new generation of programmers and game designers? Maybe in 10, 20 years we'll finally get good games out there after they got experience, which boggles my mind because the tracks were already placed there: all they had to do was follow the dang train!

Burst countering is broken as fuck and it's a trash mechanic. Basically works when it fuckin feels like it. I've done it in Mezukis face while, and right after he glows red and he just kills me. Works when it wants to. Dark souls series is far superior to the garbage nioh series. They really should stop trying to make souls games bc they're terrible at it.

Imagine getting upset over a lawn chair mod. Couldn't be me. But all the same, Cosmetic mods are not cheats. QoL mods could be considered cheats, but that's just based on case to case, i feel. Adding things to the game(i.e. adding in an elder dragon from a previous game into a newer game of monster hunter, like Crimson or White Fatalis, or something along those lines) could be considered cosmetic, but also kind of cheaty, but only if it breaks the game and has no balance whatsoever. All in all, it's a case by case sort of deal. But for the most part, cosmetics are NOT. CHEATS.

Agreed, modding alone is not cheating, esp in a one player game. Modding kept borderlands gameplay alive, every installment.
